Also been thinking while driving for the last 12hrs...i had their black ipa at one point and caught some of the bubblegum / melon on that guy and remembered thinking it was a turn-off because that shouldn't really be a component of a black ipa. So taking that into account... Would all of the...
I'd love to examine their beer to get an idea of how they finagle their "juice treatment" into the beers.... I was and still may be convinced it's a flavoring or terpene of some sort. It's so distinctly "flavored" whereas TH comes across as more of a yeast / Ester biproduct.
Thank you for that response.... And for the detailed explanation... First I must apologize. In my haste I thought I was posting on the beersmith forum.
But yes I'm tweaking my beersmith profiles.
Usually adjusting the overall BH efficiency to compensate has worked in the past... For some...
Hi Guys
I'm tweaking my equipment profiles again because I've had a few hiccups with batches where i've been way over my estimated efficiency (like 90% on an estimated 82%) and then in other batches under (70is on an estimated 80%). I've been poking around trying to figure how the program...
Give the white labs sach brux trois a try. solid yeast with fruity / pineapple esters and slight funk akin to brett (although not a brett). I've had some really nice murk that doesn't settle out even with fining agents.
I saw you on reddit ;-)
The response given by the person on reddit i'm not in full agreement with. While you do run into many breweries that have yeast matter at the bottom of cans, the desirable haze that you get does not primarily come from yeast. The permanent haze comes mostly from the...
+1 to kettle fining
Even with my NEIPAs I add half a tablet of whirlfloc. I've had haze until the keg was kicked. sometimes even almost two months if not drinking it fast enough.
That's my thing. I get a lot of crowd approval but judges tear me up sometimes. Most often its because of the strict style guidelines. A lot of what people are into these days is blurring the line between styles and the don't fly in competitions.
I think it's crazy... Less than a year ago I was in ft worth area and asked the reddit forums if there were any spots for neipa. I was verbally raped over and over with responses like "why travel to Texas for a North East style".... Now less than a year later the trend has caught fire.
