Bottling tomorrow and want to Clean/Sanitize today

I use Iodophor and a bottle cleaner as seen here.https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f16/bottle-tree-sulfiter-bottle-cleaner-25-a-142263/. With a 5 gallon batch I usually have around 45-48 bottles to fill (some bombers). So I wash about half with Iodophor using the bottle cleaner. I immediately...

    Cold Crash Temperature Control

Yes it matters. Temperature is very important to proper fermentation and ensuring your yeast is healthy. Temperature fluctuation of 5 degrees or more can create off flavors and contaminate your beer. They do make bands that go around a carboy to control the temperature. I have never used...

Convert Stone's 10.10.10 Vertical Epic in Extract/Grain Recipe

I really want to try to make this beer. I will be moving up to All-Grain soon. But for now I am still using extract. Can someone re-create this recipe using extract? http://www.stonebrew.com/epic/w101010recipe.htm This would be helpful for other extract brewers on this forum. Would also...

    dry hopping in secondary

That is how I do it. Some like to use the bags as they find it easier to separate in the end. But I think siphoning works great. Use the tips on the end of your siphon to ensure chunks don't make it through.

    dry hopping in secondary

I dry hop all my IPA's and I only leave it in secondary for two weeks. They come out great everytime. I month seems like a long time to dry hop.

    First Bottling Today (question)

Glad I found this thread and the one you wrote up previously Revvy. While I have my own system to bottling, adding the dip tube is a new one for me. I will have to try that next time. I gave a thumbs up to that post...Thanks!

    Today's score

I live in Steamboat Springs, CO where we have long winters. What is the ideal conditions for hopes to grow? Does it depend on the type? How about space? Will a small garden work? I figured I could plant early Springs and by mid-late summer pick before snow falls.

    Can beer ferment too fast?

With previous recipes I have brewed, I experience 7 to 10 days (give or take) of fermentation. However, my most recent, and first attempt, porter brew seems to have completed fermentation in 48 hours. My recipe is from the Homebrewer's Recipe Guide Viennese Spiced Porter and ingredients...

what was your most dumb move in brewing?

Mine was forgetting to buy my yeast on brew day and after brewing being to lazy to go to the store to buy the yeast. So I waited till the next day to buy and pitch. Actually, did not ruin the beer. Gave it a nice bitter flavor that worked well in an IPA. But, still stupid.

New Belgium La Folie clone have cherries?

I just took the New Belgium tour a few weeks ago. If I remember correctly they store the beer in French Oak barrels for a few years. I thought they used cherries, but perhaps that flavor came from the wood of the barrels. They were huge!

Viennese Spiced Porter from The Homebrew Recipe Guide

I am going to make this beer from The Homebrew Recipe Guide. Calls for 2 Ounces of Mount Hood Hops and 1/2 ounce Fuggle Hops.. I have tons of hop in my fridge but nothing from the Hallertau family. I have Saaz, Amarillo (a lot of this), Magnum and Cascade since I usually make IPA's. Any...

    Brewing At 8,000 Feet

I recently moved from San Diego, CA to Steamboat Springs, CO. In SD I was brewing at sea level while at my new location I will be brewing at 8,000 feet. This I believe will have an effect upon fermentation and the yeast. It will also change my boil and times. Can anyone give me advice as...
