Finally got to watch "Flatline".. very, very cool episode with tinges of Classic Who. I'm glad to see that things are starting to even out with the whole Doctor vs. Clara thing. She still annoys me to no end. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole "Missy" storyline... but maybe it'll turn...

I have four taps, with enough room in my keezer for 10 kegs (I store bottled beer and, in the summer time, Gatorade and bottled water in it as well). I supposed, ideally, that I should add just one more tap and be happy with it. I'm making the move to 10-gallon batches in the very near future...

What ajdelange said above makes sense. So instead of screwing around with fuzzy PIDs, I'm basically using it as an expensive temperature gauge and manually controlling the heat. It's either that, or start screwing up batches of beer.

Kal.. thanks for the response.. If I set the PID to 152, the element remains on until, oh, boiling or so. Sometimes. Sometimes it'll switch off in the 170s or 180s. It's a temperamental little thing.

Even with the Auber directions AND Kal's directions, I still haven't been able to "autotune". I think it's a myth. Instead, I simply keep a close eye on the temps, specifically my mash temps. When I see the mash temp dip below some arbitrary point (152F, for example), I hit the "ELEMENT ON"...

I never did update.. The plastic conical worked as advertised. I didn't bother saving yeast, trub, whatever, and wound up using my auto-siphon to pull the beer out of it.. but man.. two full kegs.. that's nice.. So talking it over with SWMBO, I'm upgrading to a 25-gallon pot so I can do...

I really don't like Clara.. But damn, she's hot.
