Bayou Classic 100qt Aluminum $42 Lowes

Just ran out to my local Lowes, they said it's a seasonal item (I think around here they only think of big propane burners and 7+ gallon stockpots for frying turkeys).

fittings for 3/8 od copper tube

I stopped at Home Depot today to get some 3/8" sweat fittings, and all they had were 3/8" caps and 3/8" couplings... nothing else. The guy there told me that HD is phasing out the 3/8" stuff.

    Show off your mash tun

I've done a 5 gallon American Wheat, a 10 gallon Dunkelweizen, and a 10 gallon Multigrain Red... batch sparged all, and never had a problem with the grain bed. Vorlauf was 3 quarts for each batch.

Here's my Igloo Ice Cube. I've only done 3 batch sparges with it... and it works perfect for my needs.

    Wheat beer starter question

I'm far from an expert, with only 12 brewing sessions under my belt, but here's what I would do. Rather than risk some off flavors from the Amber DME, I'd smack the pack and see how fast it pops up. I've had some smack packs that are fully expanded within 2 hours, and I've had some that got a...

    Freezer Shelves...how much weight?

Maybe a piece of plywood on the shelf to spread the weight around. Unless you're worried about where the shelf mounts to the sides of the freezer, in which case, I'd use some 2x2's to make legs.

New Glarus Moon Man Pale Ale

I've had two six packs of this, and I have to say, I really like it. I'm not a hoppy / IPA type of beer guy, but this is really tasty. I'll drink this again and again.

    Anybody made a hoppy wheat?

I made the extract kit of Wheaten Beatdown from Northern Brewer. It was hoppy and yet "wheaty" at the same time, and was gone very fast. http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/wheaten-beatdown-extract-kit.html

    New Fryer / Burner Problems

Mine had something like that, it was a red plastic button that I had to push down and there was a box with a magnet, a battery, and time circuitry that kept that button down for 15 minutes at a time. I ended up duct taping the button.

Why is my beer better when bottled with oats?

I couldn't taste/feel a difference on the 5 gallon batch that I did 50% with oats 50% without. It was a Wheat Stout beer.

60qt. Ice Cube Mash Tun Build - $cheap and simple

Here's my manifold... Used it twice now, leaves about a quart of wort on the bottom. The "tee" where the outlet connects to the manifold is not soldered, and at the bulkhead fitting, so it's easy to remove for cleaning.

    Anyone use cheesecloth for hops?

I've done the same as japhroaig. I have since bought a couple washable nylon bags, one for hops and one for specialty grains (before I started doing All Grain). My hop bag contains 99% of the material, and it's long enough that I just lay the end of the bag over the edge of my pot and clamp it...
