And then lacquer it to have an open metal look? I bought a new 7 sq ft freezer, have added a collar. It's white and I hate the white look. Anything this would work and if so any recommendations on removing the paint and applying the lacquer?

Is it an older metal freezer, or a plastic one? I sanded down an old metal one and repainted it with a hammered look spray paint.

It was a son-of-a-***** to sand down that hard enamel though. I ended up just roughing up most of it and applying a primer. I did get the lid all the way down to bare metal, but it was difficult. Maybe a wire brush would work better than 60-80 grit paper.
