Default When to check

I have an extract kit, that was designed to ferment at 50, but was safe for ale temps. I have brewed, fermented for two weeks, and i just transferred it to my secondary.

Originally i was supposed to ferment 2 weeks at 50,
Transfer to secondary
and then ferment for two weeks, reducing 2-3 degrees per day until it reached 35.

I have checked the kit, it does not tell me what type of yeast it uses. I did taste when i transferred, and it smelled/tasted pretty decent. I was thinking i would check the gravity this weekend.

Original gravity was 1.063 and i was shooting for 1.055 - 1.065 per the kit.

Is it going to hurt anything to let it go the full two weeks?

Sounds like a lager. Follow what the instructions say for slowly lowering the temps if you can. It has to get down cold for the lagering phase if I understand it right.

A general brewing rule is that it never hurts to let your beer sit a little longer.
