Default Lagering question

Is it okay to have my lager ferment for 4-5 days, give it a diacetyl rest, and then throw it in the secondary for the remainder of the time...or should i really let it go the full 7-10 days of primary fermentation before i give it a diacetyl rest?? thanks

PAM

None of the above IMO...if you are going to do a diacetyl rest I would do it when it is about 6-8 points above your projected FG, not based on any set amount of time.
