I am making a pale ale and the color is supposed to be golden yellow. After a week of fermenting I racked it into a glass carboy and at that time it was the nice, golden yellow. After a week of settling it is now more of a darker brown. Any reasons this may have happened and if so, is it a bad thing?

Color change happens when yeast start to settle out. Keep in mind beer will look ten times darker in larger volumes when in the fermenter. If or when you take a gravity reading that will show closer to glass color.

I think it's something we all have to learn. It appears to get darker as it settles out because there's less yeast in suspension to reflect light. But get it in a hydrometer tube,& you'll have a better idea of it's color in the glass.
