I think you might have gotten an older version of a coupler, before they started standardizing them.

I looked up the G couplers and they seem to be a larger diameter at the bottom than the one I have.
I'm thinking I got a paperweight.

Go to the local liquor store and ask them if they have any kegs of Bass.
When they roll it out, put your coupler on it and see if beer shoots all over the store. If it does, then you have a functional G tapper.

I haven't been to a college in a loooong time but...
I'm sure if you tinker with it for a bit, you can probably add some pieces and turn it into a bong.
Or a paperweight will be fine...
