What im looking for is to make a semi-sweet wine without having to backsweeten. Just not sure what flavor the ale yeast will have on a wine.

However, as Yooper said, gettign below 12% is hard. There is one rated to 11% and iIve used it, but I've never tried it with mroe than an OG of about 1.085 (which will give you about 11%)
