Does wheat take longer to convert?

Because I usually hit 2 points above my targeted O.G. for the beer I make with all barley grain bills.

Made my first Hefeweizen today that was 50% 2-row and 50% wheat, and came in 3 points below my targeted O.G. for a 60 minute mash at 153*F.

Would a 90 minute mash yield better results? Or would a step mash be the best approach?
 
No, it should convert just fine. Maybe you undershot your gravity just a tad because of the crush? Wheat is hard and husk-less, so I have to put it through my mill twice to get a good crush on it.
 
Along with being harder like Yooper said, it's smaller. You might consider milling it seperate at a tighter setting. It's not like you're trying to keep husks intact like you do with barley.
