I'm in the process of making a mash tun and I'm wondering if 3/4 inch SS braid is too big. I have already bought it, but I could probably return it if it's the wrong size. If so, what problems will it cause?

biggest issue is making sure its stiff enough that it won't collapse under the weight of the grain bed.

and you can't really tell until you cut the ends off and push the rubber hose out...which means you can't return it.

That does sound a bit too big. But you could put a piece of 1/2 rigid copper inside to act as a spine. I would cut a lot of slots in the copper if you do that though, you want to make sure you get good flow through the braid, not just a trickle between the copper and the braid.

If it were me I would just get a smaller braid though.
