Hi, I'm a fairly new brewer, this is my 4th batch. I've never had any irregularities in fermentation, but for all 4 carboys I have white stuff stuck on the sides (yeast?) I normally bottle after 3 weeks in primary and these guys have been like this since about the 10th day, is there anything I can do? What is that stuff. Thanks a lot for your help guys

Looks like yeast to me. You can leave it sit a little longer and more of it will drop out or if you can fit it in a fridge that will drop it out real quick. Looks like u dry hopped too. A cold crash will drop out all that hops too.

Either way it won't hurt anything.

Thanks guys, I don't have any space in my fridge =( so I'll try to agitate them a little and hopefully it'll settle

Make sure u don't splash at all. U don't want to introduce any o2 to oxidize your beer.

It will fall out on it's own.

Looks like good brew to me.

I have a Saison going on 4 weeks in the carboy and it looks similar to your pics. Nothing wrong here. Even if it doesn't fall off the side and drop to the bottom, you will pick up very little when you rack it out.

One or two good twists will probably dislodge everything and it will fall to the bottom. Like everyone has said, looks like yeast settling on the side. What yeast did you use?

I wouldn't agitate it at all.

It's stuck there due to static, and it's a good thing since it's stuck there it won't be suspended in the beer. It's fine where it is stuck, and that happens to me all the time with certain carboys.

Hi, I used Nottingham dry yeast, it's the same I've been using but I'm thinking into switching to liquid yeast, trying to explore new things =D

Thanks for all your help guys, after another week almost has gone to the bottom, they'll probably be ready to bottle next week (Saturday would be the fourth week) the 2 carbons I didn't dry hop did look pretty clear today, just a few sediment left

They're probably ready to bottle now but only a hydrometer reading will tell for sure. It won't hurt to leave them until next Saturday either.

You could have avoided all the worry had you used buckets to ferment in instead of carboys. The buckets are white and you'd never have seen the yeast sticking to them and not worried about it.:rockin:

I have been having the same thing. What I want to know is why it does this. Why some batches and not others? Did I not clean well? Or from residue?

When I had this happen to me it didn't affect the beer at all. It came out great so don't worry and just enjoy your beer =D
