ok, I can’t help it. I’m kinda stoked... I know, it’s silly, but can’t help it. So here’s the story...about 2 months ago I brewed a Boston ale clone. I thought hay, let’s try to wash and save the yeast. So I got 2 jars of yeast, from the videos that I have seen, that is the norm. 4 weeks I get a chance to brew another Boston ale. So after researching and asking if I could do a starter with out a stir plate and with a 1L flask I gave it a swirl. Monday morning I got my starter going. Tuesday night threw i threw it in the fridge. Wednesday night I decant and started it up again, Friday afternoon I pitched. The past week and a half I seen no activity. Figured I screwed it up. So since I will be going to my LHBS tomorrow, I figured I would check my gravity. Holy smokes, it came in nicely. Predicted FG was 1013, and it came in at 1012. And let me tell you, I was relieved. So now my next experiment, trying to do the yeast starter again but this time with my home made stir plate ( wood box, pc fan, hard drive magnet), so no stepping this time.
