Hey all!

I have two questions.

1st, i purchased some yeast nutrient from my local homebrew. do you all use that in your starter or in the finished boil??

2nd, is it neccesary/desireable to use an airlock with a yeast starter? i read somehwere that you should just use a cap but cant remember.

The process for a starter is here. I've never used yeast nutrients in my starters and it's not covered in the link, so someone else will have to help with that.

Sanitized foil works fine, an airlock will work too.

Airlock is good, Sanitzed foil is good. Please don't use a cap or the pressure will build up and the glass will break.
