Yeast starter question

I searched and can't find an answer.

I want to start making starter's, do I just use any type of DME to do it or should I use a certain type for each beer. I'm going to be making an AG pale ale and a wheat.

The DME is a miniscule contribution in your beer. I'd recommend extra-light DME only because it is the most versatile (good for light and dark colored beers).
