Here's something I've never seen before--the yeast in my starter has started to flock together. Usually this is a smooth solution where you cannot see the yeast. This is 1 vial of WLP-002 in 3 liters of wort. We are doing up 10 gallons of Deschutes Black Butts Porter on Sunday. Target OG 1.058

I assume this is normal, but thought I would show a few pictures to the group.

It's normal.
002 is a Very High flocculating yeast.
It's a real treat to do cells counts with.
 
Mine looked like that on the stir plate as well. It made good beer. Kinda freaky looking though.
 
WLP002 and Wyeast 1968 always get that egg drop soup look. That means it'll drop out of the finished beer like a stone. Wait till you see that yeast cake that's like foam rubber.
