I was told by my local brew place that I should re-use the yeast from the secondary fermenter but now I'm reading everywhere that I should have used the yeast cake from the primary.

Can I still re-use the yeast leftover from the secondary?

Sure, you can still reuse the yeast. You are selecting for yeast that is slow to flocculate though, so expect it to perform differently than the primary crop of yeast.

Depends how long its sat there. A month or so, sure. 6? I wouldnt.

Also Id only use it for one or two generations then discard, you are selecting for low flocculation by harvesting from the secondary.

I wouldn't. The secondary contains the less flocculent yeast population. You may have trouble clearing your next batch based on that.

That was going to be my next question, is it worth trying to reuse this batch of yeast.

I think I'm just going to pass this time around and wash the yeast from my next batch.

Thanks for your help.
