I am about to fire off a 3 gallon batch of brew and have a few questions.
If I use a smack pack or 11 gram pack of dry yeast like I would with a 5 gallon batch is the fermentation time going to be about the same?
Will the same amount of yeast for a 5 gallon batch in the smaller batch help in any way?
I was assuming it may get started quicker but that would be the only real difference with the smaller batch. thanks

Fermentation will start quicker, but it should take about the same amount of time to finish fermenting (might be shorter by 6-24hrs).

You might be surprised by the proper pitching rate for your 3 gallon beer though Mr Malty Pitching Rate Calculator
