Hello !! I just brewed a northern brewer batch this morning, and I didn't realize that the little pouch inside the yeast packet did not rupture. The packet swelled up nice and thick, and after cutting it open ad dumping it out... the "nutrient" packet was still intact. I cut it open and then dumped it in my pail, and then rocket it back and forth, sealed it up and left it at that. That was about 3 hours ago. I have not seen any activity from my airlock as of yet. My question is.... those "nutrients" help wake up the yeast, but is not actually the yeast itself... is that right??

Thanks for reading!!!!

if it swelled up im pretty sure the pack inside had to break open, sometimes there are two separate little pouches inside... you likely broke one but not the other, it has happened to me before

3 hours isn't enough time to really see any activity. i have seen a brew start bubbling in that time but its nothing to worry about at this point.
