I bought a new pack of this and put it on a stir plate Tuesday. I didn't see anything like a normal starter shows which I expected but I'm looking for other people's experience with Brett starters. It doesn't look like anything is happening and while I haven't checked gravity when I turn the stir plate off it doesn't even look like there is anything dropping out of solution. It just looks like cloudy wort.

I just did a batch and had a similar issue. Here is what I found. Wyeast 5526 needs to be combined with other yeasts to get the activity you are probably looking for. I first put this into brewtoad and it said I would need 10 packs for the 10 gallons I was brewing...that lead me back to the brew shop where I discussed with the dude about my process. He indicated, contrary to some posts here, that this does not need a start and does not do well with them as it could throw off the ratios that are placed initially. He also indicated that I would probably want another 'something' in there so I went with the Roeselare Ale (wyeast 3763)...2 packs.

I now have 2 wyeast 3763 and 1 wyeast 5526 in a 10 gallon batch....I'll let you know in a year how we are looking.
