I am brewing up a raspberry wheat from extract. I have made this recipe several times using 3056 but this year my home brew store gave me 1010.

Can anyone explain the difference between these?

Better or worse for this kind of beer?

1010 is an American wheat strain and so it is very clean. It's a bit tart but does not give banana/clove type flavors typical in a German wheat. I like it a lot for American style wheats with fruit, but if you are expecting the typical German wheat flavors it won't get you that. I'm not familiar with 3056 but sounds like it's a blend of a German and and neutral strain, maybe 3068 and 1010 but that's just a guess.

1010 is clean with minimal ester and phenolic character.

3056 is a German wheat that’s blended with a clean strain to limit ester and phenolic

Heffe yeast is capable of high levels of ester and phenolic production.

So you basically have a mild/neutral wheat yeast that should finish clean and let your raspberry shine through.

It’s going to play nicely in your beer

Thanks for the responses

Follow up: 1010 seems awfully aggressive and my blowoff bucket has turned brown. Should I replace with clean sanitizer or just let it go?
