Sorry I've been browsing but can't seem to find any good info on a way to circulate the wort during boil and/or mashing for an electric setup to avoid scorching.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have a 1/2" coupling near the bottom of my pot that leads to a pump, which pumps liquid back into the top of my pot.

I don't know of anybody who circulates while boiling- the wort boils and mixes up.

I have a HERMS for my set up, and I do circulate during the mash via the coil, but never for a boil. It's not to keep it from scorching, though- it's to maintain temperatures.

Your wort won't scorch during mashing, unless you apply heat to it, and it won't scorch during the boil since it's boiling and turning over.

What efficiency are you seeing with the recirc during mash?

As mentioned, you don't have to worry about scorching during the boil. Unless.... you stop the boil and restart it, or you add something like Candi sugar to the boil and it sinks straight to the bottom.

If you apply heat during the mash to maintain mash temps, most folks use a pump. Take suction from low in the kettle wall, and return it to the top either through the lid or high on the kettle wall.

Just take a peek at any of the pre made systems out there. They all do what I describe. Brau Supply, Colorado Brewing Systems, Jaggerbush, etc.

$50? If you order them from China they are like $20 a piece

I got a couple off eBay for like $16 and some change each..they are tiny!LOL
