I'm looking for a 10/4 cord to go from my four-prong dryer outlet to a spa panel and then from teh spa panel to my control box. I'm assuming I can use 10/4 from the outlet to the spa panel and then 10/3 from the spa panel to the control panel - right? So I found this 10/4 cord (with four prong plug on one end) on Ebay. Is there any reason this won't work to go from my dryer outlet to my spa panel? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Supply-Cord-250-Volt-30-Amp-Typ-SOW-A-10-4-8-/370525414299 Thanks, Todd

I'm not an electrician, so I could definitely be wrong.

I did just finish my electric herms system though, and I think it would work fine. Just make sure that's the correct plug you need for your dryer outlet. My 4 prong dryer outlet is NOT that shape.

Also, why are you going 10/4 TO the spa panel, and then only 10/3 into the control panel? Are your elements not 240/220v?

I think a dryer plug is 14-30,not a 15-30. Check your plug. You will want 4 wire to you panel from the spa panel if you are running any 120 stuff from your control panel.

So, I need 10/4 to the control panel, too? From the contro panel, can I run 10/3 to the elements? I'm running 220V and 5500W elements.

Yes, your element only needs 10/3, but if you are going to power any 120v items from your control panel, you need the forth wire. To get 120, you take one hot leg, the ground and the forth wire(neuteal).

Not trying to be critical here, but make sure you do a LOT of homework on AC wiring before you plug this thing in. Do you have a wiring diagram? You should post it so we can make sure you're not going to fry yourself.
