I enjoy woodworking as well as my new found hobby of brewing. I am working on a corner cabinet for my wife and it is ready to stain. I am storing my primaries (Ale Pales) in the bathroom next to my basement wood shop and am wondering if the odors from the stain will somehow affect my beer. When I stain, the odor makes it all the way up to the second floor sometimes.

No it should not make a difference. The pressure of fermentation is pushing out C02. That pressure will keep out the fumes. Not to mention you probably have airlocks on the fermentors.

Don't worry about it in the slightest bit.

Where are you at in the burbs? I grew up in Brookfield.

I wouldn't think so, especially if they are in active primary (ie off gassing) I would imagine the pressure of the out gassing CO2 would "push" any odors away.

Edit: Schlenkerla beat me to it.

I live in Lombard. Close to Winemakers where I have been getting my brewing supplies, and just around the corner from Owl Hardwood where I get my wood. (That didn't sound good.)

Winemakers is really expensive compared to online stores. And their selection isn't anything to shake a stick at either.

I haven't had the opportunity to check out any other home brew stores. This one is close, and I decided to jump in with both feet (going to be brewing for the third time in three weeks this weekend). So far they have been friendly and helpful. I am going there on May 2nd for the AHA brew day to learn more about AG brewing. I would like to do my first AG brew right after that, or at least a partial.
