Will my stabilizing SG be different if I made 5 gallons in a 6 gallon wine kit

I have a Vintner's Reserve Oak Chip Chardonnay in my Primary, and the kit instructions say that I should degas and stabilize at 0.996 SG.
However, I made this 6 gallon kit as a 5 gallon kit (there are 5 gallons of liquid in the Primary). I know, probably not a good idea, but the person walking me through this (my first kit) insisted.
At any rate, will my target SG for stabilizing still be 0.996?
Or will it be different, now that I monkeyed with the instructions?

I would think that you want to have this wine as fully fermented even if the flavor is more concentrated so you want to aim for .996. Your buddy may know this kit and may view it as overly "flavor thin" when made to 6 gallons but taste just right when made to 5 gallons. (and here's the thing: some makers of fruit concentrates for wine making suggest that their concentrates can make 6 or 3 gallons with three if you want a richer fruit flavor but there are essentially no differences in the process (although when it comes to the amount of sorbate or K-meta you need to add to stabilize the quantities are going to be different).
