looks like raspberries to me...not sure you'll be able to gather just yeast without plating and isolating and then growing up cultures from there

I used rasberrys from my garden , I'm ok to plate and isolate , would you drain then use yeast cell on the bottom?

I think that would probably get you greatest number of possible strains...but I could be wrong...there's probably a lot of diversity in the whole thing

I did similar with cherries and mulberries separately. I'll be repeating with elderberries and apples yet this fall. Assuming they stay decent tasting, I'll combine them with my commercial and dreg pitched Spurs for added diversity.

I did something similar with raspberries from my garden last year. Didn't plate it or anything.
ended up with a lot of different wild yeasts, one of which produced a ton of fusels.

I just set out some 1.020 wort in a mason jar covered with cheesecloth for a few hours, and let them ride. After a few days, I stepped up the ones that didn't smell like death, and ended up with 1 that smelled like something I'd like to use.

I ended up with what seemed like a good strain...I'll know more this weekend--I made a simple blonde with it to see if I could figure out what I've really got. Initial tastes (at bottling) are nice--seems like a nice Belgian-y or hefe-y type of strain.
