so im really in need of ( insert needed piece here) its a monday afternoon but wait there isnt a home brew store open on mondays in the denver metro area. any ideas on why?

My two LHBSs are closed Mon and Tues. Maybe all the vendors ship their stuff and the stores have to recieve/stock everything at the beginning of the week? The way I figure it, thats a pretty big coincidence, so it's probably something independent of the individual store, but something that both the stores rely on.

Those stores stay open on the weekends so items can be picked up when the greatest number of poeple are brewing. Then they give themselves and their staff a day off, Monday.

Works ok, just need to remember to get everything ahead of time, like we used to when Sunday liqour sales were illegal.

Come to think of it my LHBS here in Arlington is closed on Monday. No worries though since all my brew days are on weekends or late in the week.

Most people work M-F. Earliest most people that M-F workers brew is Fri Night. Most late fermentation occurs 48 - 72 hours. Coincidence.... I think not.

crap I did not even think about that. Homebrew conspiracy, luckily my pale rye is fermenting like it should.

Seems like most homebrew stores are closed on Mondays everywhere. Mine is as well. Makes sense to me, they need a day off.

Hmmm yeah makes sense kinda throws me for a loop though work wed thru sat 10am to 8pm the one closest to my house is open four hours on sundays so tuesday is my normal brew day and i am preparing for it today racking thru my pipeline and i need some corny orings have some leakage and tried everything to get it to seal.. long day tommorrow!!

One thing I try to do is keep a stock of "those" items on hand. You know, the simple/tiny things that break, are forgotten... I even have a package of dry yeast in the fridge. I brew with it about every three months and replace so it stays fresh. O-rings of all sizes for kegs and kettle in a ziplock in my brew box.

The more you brew and have those "Oh ****" moments, the more items you find to keep on hand.

BTW What part of Denver and what's your LHBS?

thier probably all hungover on Monday (like the so many of the rest of us! :drunk:)

Seriously, I just called mine cuz I'm in dire need of some yeast, and found out they are closed today as well.

Oh, well.. Now I know.

In case you ever need it (like the one time I forgot my LHBS of choice was closed on Mondays) Do Your Brew is open on Mondays in Westminster. It was a decent store and the owner was very nice to me the one time I made an emergency trip down there on a Monday. They are at 9050 W 88th Ave.

Indeed i will have to hit them up next week it looks like from the website they are a Brew on premise place definitly going to check it out

Monday and Tuesday are dead-zones for many businesses, witness the success of the Four-day stores.

The B-F and I happened to both be off yesterday, unusual for us on a weekday, and decided spur-of-the-moment to throw together another batch of Apfelwein, oh and while we're at it, lets make a summertime wheat beer... awwww crap, it's Monday. Disappointed, I went to the kitchen to start bottling another batch, our Mexican Lager, and was surprised when he came in a few minutes later "hey one of our local HBT'ers just asked why...." I thought it was funny that we were ranting about that, literally just as you posted. We're downtowners who shop at Stomp them Grapes on 15th. Great store. Its small, but they have an awesome staff.
