Holy hell, munch-man. And I thought I brewed a lot. How do you find the time for that? Are you retired or something? Or does your family just not want you around

I read that there are still 3 or 4 states that its illegal to brew in, Iowa has laws for making wine, but fail to include brewing beer. Since they don't actually come out and say its illegal we brew anyway, but I do try and keep it low key.

I think you then run up against the 200 gallon federal limit.

I like this part of Maryland's code though. Considering moving to St Mary's County:

(2) In St. Mary's County, cider or native wines may be sold by the maker thereof without a license.

Dang Bier! I thought I was bad. I'll be at 95 gallons tonight. I didn't get started this year until March though. But you are still close to 100 gallons ahead. I need to double my primary situation to keep up it looks like. :rockin:

Damn, I'm 'only' at 75 gallons since New Years. Then again, I made a promise to SWMBO to take it easy on the brewing since I have accumulated so f'ing much backstock in bottles.

I believe it is 50 a person, 100 per household here in Georgia, at least that is the most up to date information I could find.

My...uh..."friend" isn't retired but he sure looks forward to brewing every weekend. It's kind of become his weekly "golf outing". The guys at Midwest are getting to know "him" pretty well. So is the Fed Ex man...

Man's got to have a hobby. I think the switch to 10-gallon batches really kicked it in to high gear...for "him".

Seriously though, a simple rule for abiding the law:

1. Evaluate logic of the law.
2. Consider The consequenses of breaking it.
3. Make your own damn decision!

I have only been brewing since April. Just looked at the calender, and 19 weeks = 95 gallons! If I was single I would be cut off next week!

Just checked the brew log and WOW!!,SWMBO and I are closing in on our 1 yr brewing anniversary,Aug. 25,2006.We've brewed 44 batches of beer and 5 batches of Ed's Apfelwein and hard lemonade.The first 10 were extract and all the rest(and future) were AG.Currently sitting on roughly 500 bottles full,5 cornys full,and 2 batches in secondary coming due to bottle/keg.......tomorrow actually.It's been a blast doing this over the last year.Although we share alot of our beer we also drink a way lot of it.So i hoist a homebrew to us and to you fellow HBTers.It's been a great ride with all you folks and we look forward to many more brewing anniversaries:rockin: .

Yes, the State of Maryland does not have gallonage restrictions. However, the US Government does require anything over 200 gallons (if there are two adults in the house) to be TAXED.

In Kentucky, it's still illegal to SELL beer (or BMC beer-like beverages) in certain counties. According to that site, it is not only illegal to brew in Kentucky, it is illegal to possess brewing EQUIPMENT.

I still remember crossing county lines to get alcohol... And to think, 20 miles down... Bardstown, the bourbon capital of the world.

Hey perhaps we could take a page out of AlGore's playbook for folks like Biermuncher. I'm not going to hit 200 gallons this year probably, so maybe we can start a company to consolidate and sell Homebrew Offsets for those busy beavers who go beyond their limit.

I think you have it backwards. We need to get the under-utilized equipment dispursed to locations that can keep the rust off until the rightful owners can get back up to par.

This weekend I brewed batch #20. Now 2 batches were 3.5 gallons, so as I see it, I'm at 97 gallons since October last year.

Does the 5 gal of Apfelwien I made sunday afternoon count? If so, 'we' are 102. I like having a roommate so that it's not illegal.
