White Lab - Vermont Ale Yeast -Review

Hey Brewers,

I just got a vile if the White Lab Vermont Ale Yeast. I haven't seen much talk about this particular yeast, so I was wondering if anyone out there has used it, and if they care to share there thoughts on this particular strain.

I was going to do an all grain brew this weekend using the yeast; with mosaic and Phoenix hops mostly.

I actually got a starter of it on the stir plate that will be pitch tomorrow. I'm brewing the MACC IPA from brulosophy.com... I never tasted TYB Vermont ale.

Planning to ferment it at 66F for 4 days and raise it gradually to 71-72F until it's done.

I'll post the result in 3 weeks

I believe it's mostly used to brew "East Coast" style IPAs and IIPAs (the cloudy ones). I'm planning on brewing a Heady Topper clone with that strain since my LHBS carries it.

In fact I believe they isolated that strain from Heady Topper.

Do you mean WPL095 Burlington Ale?
I have had good results with it in IPA and pale ales.
It has performed similarly to the Giga Yeast version for me.
I dont usually make the cloudy northeast style, but I do like this yeast.

I've never seen a "Vermont" strain from them, but have suspected that the Burlington Ale is the same. I've used the Giga Yeast and the Yeast Bay versions and haven't been incredibly happy with the yeast. I do pretty much all my IPAs (New England or not) with London Ale III
