Where have you purchased your converted keggle? What options were available when you did?

You'll get a wide range of answers and opinions on this one. For mine I ended up paying the deposit on an empty one because I was having no luck with the local scrap yards, breweries and other sources. Since then, my LHBS is now selling them for $50. I think he gets them from the party store next door.

what if you needed them "finished", so they had the sight-glass, ball valve, thermometer fitting and thermowell (for digital sensor) already in them?

Pedalbiker was selling some, at one point. He runs some auctions on eBay and posts here, lots of people have said good things about him.

EDIT: He's got this for $199.

During my search for a keggle I was not able to find one converted. So I bought one off of craigslist and used the services of a fellow local homebrew club member to convert it to a keggle. You could also find a welder in your area and ask how much it would be to weld the valves, sight glass, and other equipment you want on the keg.

Edit: Looks like pedalbiker also selss some with a sight glass.
Unless you know a welder personally, I don't think you will be able to get a much better deal than what the bird has posted.

anyone have info on how to get a probe for a controller in there, but keeping the thermometer (I like the dial rather than the controller for reading it). Then later I could add a screw-in heat element controlled by it to maintain proper temps.

Also, weldless versus welded?

CL for kegs I pay $25 a peice. weldless fittings http://www.greatbargain.net/order/shop1.html pumps and thermometers http://www.northernbrewer.com/thermometers.html

copper for IM or CFC http://coppertubingsales.com
misc fittings and borcillite glass for site gauge http://www.mcmaster.com/
just search the posts that is where I came up with all of this, then I bookmark it for when I might need it. If anyone finds this stuff cheaper let me know.

I bought a keg from a local beer distributor. Cut out top with a grinder. Cut 2 7/8 holes with a step bit. Took a Little sweat but for the price of the weld-less fittings, I have a nice keggle.

25 is an awsome price. my lhbs asks 100 for them. granted they have the top cut off but thats it.

I know this is an old post but there still are keggles on ebay here

Wow that a lot of dough for whats supposed to be the cheapest option! For $270 shipped you can buy a 15-20 gallon stainless kettle with an open top and thats way lighter and easier to move around. Hell you can buy one of the top 3 brand kettles similiarly equipt, With a lid!...
That looks almost exactly like the keggle thats sitting in my attic (except I have a site glass and electric element mounted in the side)... I replaced it with a 16 gallon bayou classic kettle with spigot for $125 shipped... so much easier to use I wish I had done it earlier.

Sorry, I see now after looking closer that your the seller and trying to plug your own business here.. But that really is the most Ive ever seen one sell for, with or without the $30-50 in accessories mounted.
