This is a relatively silly question, bu I am in Madrid, Spain and I have no clue where to start looking for food-grade lactic acid. I have tried googling it...but I mainly get taken to "beauty departments" which is not really helpful.

Does anyone know where lactic acid is normally sold? That would be a good starting point.

P.S. I have just found a bottle of lactic acid on ebay. It says it is good for both cosmetics and home brewing which freaks me out a bit. Is it safe to use it or shall I look for another seller and product?

I'm not sure if Homebrew stores in the united states will ship overseas, or how expensive it would be if they did. However, Midwestsupplies.com has lactic acid, and I'm sure every other homebrew store you check out online will too. Can you find one in Madrid?

My LHBS has it.

It looks like that one on ebay would work and they talk about using food grade lactic acid for home brewing, but they never specify if their product is food grade. Maybe you can ask them?

Hey Elysium, I have no clue if you're still in Madrid, but I'm a fellow Madrileno as well.....actually I'm from Chicago, but have been here since 2014.
Anyway I found a chemistry type shop called Manuel Riesgo near metro Santo Domingo. 1 Liter bottle for only 10 euros. It's 80% Lactic and the item description on their site says "Para bajar el pH en la elaboracion de cerveza y vino"......that's what we're looking for!
