I've got an Oktoberfest on D-rest right now that'll be ready to rack to secondary in a couple days, then lagering for 6 weeks before bottling. When is the right time to use gelatin and how do I use it? Thanks!

I've started using Gelatin recently after the urge to have very clear beers. It works for me after 2ndary. I finish all fermentation then crash to about 35-40' in my stand up freezer, then add the gelatin, gently swirl and continue a day or two at the same temps. Amazingly clear.

I will assume 6 weeks of lagering temps will clear and drop the yeast nicely without gelatin. If not, add it as I do before packaging.

If you are lagering for a while you probably won't need it. That said if you still want to use it then add it about a week before you bottle/keg.
