I almost never use a bottle opener for some reason, I like to just grab whatever is in front of me to pop a cap off, everything from screwdrivers to silverware, really anything with a flat edge on it. The weirdest thing that comes to mind is a 2x4. Usually my favorite tool is the end of a lighter to pop off a cap. This thought randomly came to mind seeing the chameleon bottle openers on the front page. I think they look pretty cool but I thought to myself " I almost never use a bottle opener why the hell would I need that?".:tank:

I popped a Corona cap straight into my boss's forehead once, using an ice scoop. I always use an opener. I keep 2 on my keychain actually...

I have three openers on me most of the time... a keychain, a pocket knife, and one of these: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/756e/

A rite of passage for many an engineering graduate in Canada is to be able to open a beer with their Iron Ring. For those that don't know, the Iron Ring is an iron or steel ring worn on the pinky of their working hand. To open a beer with it requires a short windup, and a willingness to carve up your hand.

My old Skule(tm) mate gives a quick demo here: [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OOPidI8tGk[/ame]

My buddy also kicked the cap off a few times, that was pretty entertaining.

I always got a kick out of this one.

I have friend that does the same with his Naval Academy ring; calls it the world's most expensive bottle opener.
I've heard the exact same line about the Iron Ring.

It's been almost 15 years since I got mine... I shudder to think what it costs to get one these days.

my molars .. it was a good party truck and conversation stater until I chipped a tooth

^^^ I used to date a girl that would do this same thing too. Gotta love them Montana ladies :)

I was working a catering once at the marina. The nice lady that ran the ships' store let us pick up a 6 pack for feeding her crew (and sweating our beans off running around). I grabbed a sixer of Newcastle, and being a mostly BMC drinker at the time never even thought about a bottle opener. We get down the road, ready for a cold one and couldn't find a single thing to open them with. Found out a pair of serving tongs and some torque was just the ticket.

I've seen more than one person open a beer with a rock.
Not by bashing off the lid, but by actually popping it open as if the rock were a proper opener.
I have even seen people do this with a completely smoothed cobble from a wash. I tried to do the same and failed miserably. (But maybe that's what separates geologists from geophysicists after all?)

There was this one occasion, a real long time ago, when I twisted the cap off a "beer"':shudders:

That was definitely the strangest.

Now I just use my wedding ring to open every bottle.

Wastes more beer than it's worth, but it's fun

Many moons ago....
I was under-age trying to open a beer without an opener, I went into the bathroom stall. I used a metal corner on the door frame to pop open the beer. Funny that I still remember that.
