Whats that hop?

Some of my favorite IPAs have this amazing hopiness right up front (Pliny the Elder, Hop Stoopid, Stone Enjoy By). I know they get that from dry hopping but I am wondering if a similar effect can be had with hop oil. What hop varieties would have the best aromatic/piney taste adders?

I'm not sure if hop oil would have the same effect, but for piney flavor you're looking at Chinook or Simcoe, mostly.
