Anyone have more details about The Referend Bier Blendery in Hopewell? I heard he's got a coolship & all spontaneously beer with alot of barrels. All things I love. From the looks on IG there's alot of barrels.
Sure, I can field this. It's mostly me, for now.

Average TTB turnaround time right now is around 7 months and we're about 5 months in--just hanging out, bleeding (money) for The Man, recoopering and coddling barrels, growing up our spider reserves and spilling lambic everywhere.

So I can't speak to timing, but first things you'll be able to taste will be young cask lambic (#notlambic) on-site and to-go in flexible pouches, and berlinerish bottles. 100% spontaneous fermentation, to the extent you believe in it, with all wort run through the koelschip and matured in oak.

damn mad close to me too! looks awesome phresh!

Yeah it's probably like 30ish mins from you and around 20 from me. My buddies live close as hell to it. He's the one that told me about it.

Can't wait until it finally all comes together for you. love the idea of a spontaneous brewery so close to home.

I popped in out of the blue last week when I was driving by and James was nice enough to show me around. It was the day after he got some barrels delivered, and there are definitely lots of barrels! Basically the whole place was full of barrels, and it is not a small place. He also has a mobile coolship to take to breweries who will do wort to his specs.

Thanks again for showing me around! Hope your license comes through before it gets too hot at night to use the mobile coolship this spring. It would suck to have to wait until the fall.

Bobby! Yeah the Referend is 3 miles from my place and not much further from Tim's place. Can't wait to try it!

Thanks for stopping by! I meant to actually show you the coolship instead of gesturing vaguely in the direction of the truck where it lives, but if you've ever seen a pan, and can imagine a larger pan, you're on the right track. I think I'm going to name it "Pan-" though I understand there are people out there who pay $2500 for a hat and the right to name a piece of stainless, so I'm having second thoughts.

Does anyone here go to the AC beer fest? Idk why but I never had a positive perspective on what it was. Is it worth going to?

I think I'm like the only one here who goes. I enjoy it for what it is... a massive, crowded beer fest with some decent beer and a ton of crap beer. The website/app have beers listed for some of the breweries. They have bands too, but sound in the convention center is trash.

I mainly use it as an excuse to go to AC for a weekend with a bunch of dudes I only see a few times each year.

That being said, I'll be getting in late Friday night if anyone wants to open some decent beers and play some craps

Related question - anything worth stopping at on Sunday when I make my way back to CT? Preferably not far off the parkway.

meh... depends how many beer fests you've been to and how you feel about them... this is a run of the mill one but in a larger capacity.... I had fun there... just not my scene anymore

I'll be having my own OC beer fest here instead...
