I came across this entire set up. How much would you pay for all of this stuff?

8 - 5 Gallon Carboys w/ caps
2 - 6.5 Gallon Carboys w/ caps
1 - 3 Gallon Carboy
1 - 1 Gallon jug
1 - 12 Gallon Pyrex Carboy
11- 3 piece airlocks
2 - stir plates & flask
4 - hydrometers
2 - heating pads
1 - 10 Gallon Igloo cooler as MLT with false bottom
1 - 3 roller grain mill with stand
1 - 26 gallon HLT with ball valve, site glass & thermometer
1 - 13 gallon brew pot with ball valve
1 - March Pump
1 - 5lb. CO2 tank
1 - dual regulator
4 - 5 Gallon Corny Kegs
2 - 10 Gallon Corny Kegs
4 - aeration stones
1 - counter pressure bottle filler
1 - 50', 1/2'' cooper immersion wort chiller
1 - homemade 3 tier brew stand made out of angle iron
3 - 210K BTU burners
Bunch of misc stuff, i.e. tubing, clamps, quick disconnects for all of the kegs(gas & liquid), 5 & 6.5 gallon buckets, funnels, etc.

On the surface that's worth a ton. Easily $800 or more. But it all depends on the condition of every piece of equipment.

The stuff is in surprisingly good condition. All of the carboys are crystal clear, like new, and the kegs are all very clean inside with no odor. Plus they all hold pressure. Except for some of the tubing, which is easily replaceable, I would say the stuff is in great condition.

Get a mail order catalog and match each entry on your list to a catalog price then divide whatever number you get in half.

I wouldn't pay anything over that.

My last large "used" equipment purchase vs catalog prices was $1360.00...I paid $525. :rockin:

Also, is it really 2 - stir plates & flask or 2 stir BARS?

Holy cow that is an amazing find. Make a low offer and see if they bite. It can't hurt to try.

Agreed, lowball and see what they come back at. That's one heck of a score if you can get it at the right price.

Out of curiosity, why would you have a 26G HLT and a 13G brewpot? I'd think it'd be better to reverse the two.

If you preheat all of your water, you're going to need much more than your pot can handle. Grain absorbs water and all that.

As for all that stuff, I'd say a good used price is 400 dollars. Now, I wouldn't pay that because I don't see why I'd want 8 5 gallon carboys and only 2 6.5s. There's a lot of cool stuff in there, but I've pieced together nearly as much stuff for 3-400 before.

It is 2 stir plates, 1 flask and 0 stir bars. I'll have to pick a couple of those up somewhere.
Just wanted to make sure about what you're planning to get so the "price is right"...2 stir plates and no stir bars is questionable...still time to itemize each item...;)

The only problem with people NOT wanting to break up the deal is it's harder to find someone willing to give up that much money at one time.

I looked on Austin's Homebrew Supply site to price everything out and it came to ~$2300.00 and I didn't include the brew pots or MLT. I'm sure if I searched the web for each individual piece I could find some cheaper prices for some items but who has time for that. Plus, shipping always kills the good deals that I find.

The guy is asking $1600 for everything. I offered $600.

Without the burners and brewstand, that stuff is easily worth $1000. The burners and stand could be worth significantly more, depending on condition and setup.

That said, I wouldn't go over about $800. The reason is simply that I don't need two stir plates, or all of those carboys. I especially don't need a 13 gallon carboy- no way could I even lift it. I also don't need an MLT, etc, so I'd have to try to unload all that stuff separately if I bought the whole set up. The value is definitely there, but unless you're in the market for 10 carboys (which take up a ton of room in the basement!), it's really not worth much to you.

I missed the brew stand the first time I looked through this. So I'd say 6-800 is fair, but Yoop is right. Who the hell needs all that?

After my offer of $600, he came down to $1000. I told him the best I could do was $800. He said he paid more than 3 times that for all of the stuff and couldn't let it go for less than $1000. I said thanks for the opportunity and that was the end of it. He e-mailed me about 45 minutes later, said he talked with his wife and I could come get the stuff for $800. Never underestimate the power of SWMBO! :rockin:

Drove about 60 miles with 2 trucks and picked up all of the stuff last night. Looks like I'll be parking in the driveway for a while. The stuff took up half of the garage. It does seem like a lot of carboys now that I have them but at least now I can get a couple of batches of EdWort's Apfelwein, some barleywine and some mead fermenting & ageing.

Now it's time to convert one of my shed's in the backyard to my brew house.

nice one man... just do us all a favor and ferment something in that 12g carboy and take some pictures of it... just make sure you put it somewhere you can rack into and out of without having to move it!

That is a great score, If I had room for all of that I would have been tempted to offer the $1000 he wanted. Unfortunately moving from a townhouse where I had some room to an apartment with even less room.... Maybe I need to quit drinking and buy a house first. JK fat chance of that happening.

Now get to brewing!

I've now got a total of 3 fermenting buckets, 12 carboys, & 6 kegs. Looks like my weekends are booked for the next few months. Don't mind me if I can't keep an updated signature...Primary #1, Primary #2, Primary #3..., Secondary #1, Secondary #2...., Keg #1, Keg #2....

I keep telling SWMBO that I'm saving money by homebrewing instead of buying commercial beer at retail. She's still waiting to see the savings.:D

I've posted some pics on photobucket if anyone wants to check them out. Pretty much all of the equipment, except the kegerator, is from the buy. The fridge was given to me by someone as well as the shanks and faucets.
