I'm at flameout on a German Schwarzbier from Jamil's book. Everything is great, I hit my numbers but the problem is I went out to the lagering fridge to make room for the carboy and at some point, it stopped working. It is running but not cooling. This being a lager, I don't have time or money right now to fix it. Below is what I have chilling as I type.

Ingredients list:
9 lbs Continental Pilsner
1 lb Munich Malt
11 oz Carafa Special 2
Hallertau 1.65 oz for 60 min
Hallertau .5 for 20 min
Hallertau .5 at flameout.

My question is this, I need to get this in a fermenter quick, I have a vial of Belgian Ale yeast White Labs 550. With this grain bill.......any idea of the outcome?

Why not use the lager yeast and get some bags of ice or something to put in the fridge?... to try to maintain the ~50°F range.

Clear the food out of your kitchen fridge and stick it in there. Who needs food anyways?

You would wind up with...Beer
I just made a batch with an Oktoberfest grain bill and used WL English Ale yeast. It turned out fine. I call it a Northern English Brown Ale.

If it were me.. I would probably pitch US-05 so it is fairly neutral and then let it cold condition when I got back... if possible.

I made the same thing, with US-04... I called it a Marzen/Oktoberfest and I am planning on entering it into a competition in August...
