I have some leftover ingredients laying around...

I have:

6 lbs Bavarian wheat DME
.5 Oz Northern Brewer Hops
1 Packet of safale05
Bottling sugar....of course

Anyone got any ideas for recipees that include those items?

Maybe a recipee for a wheat IPA?

Thanks!

You've got almost everything for an American wheat something like below. Just need another ounce of cascade (or whatever hop you want). For a "wheat IPA" you'd probably want to up the extract as well as the hops.

Estimated OG: 1.052 SG
Estimated Color: 6.8 SRM
Estimated IBU: 19.0 IBUs
Boil Time: 60 Minutes

Ingredients:
------------
Amt Name
6 lbs Wheat Dry Extract (8.0 SRM)
0.50 oz Northern Brewer [8.50 %] Boil 60.0 min Hop 13.0 IBUs
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] - Boil 10.0 min 6.1 IBUs
1.0 pkg Safale US-0 Yeast

That sounds good! Thanks for the help... I'm a newbie.

If nobody chimes in with a wheat ipa recipes I'm going to go with that this Friday!

I've not done a wheat IPA but I would do something like
- up the extract to about 7.5 lb
- up the bittering about 3 x what you've got (could do more norther brewer or just add another ounce of centennial at 60 for example)
- go with cascade (or another finishing hop) 1 oz each at 15, 10, flameout, and dryhop

If I were doing this I might consider adding a little munich to give it a bit more malt backbone, but that needs to be mashed. You could add a little crystal I suppose, but I wouldn't over do it (maybe 6-8 oz of medium/light).

Hope that helps, just doing this off the fly when I should be on the way to work!
You could also search the recipe section for ideas.
Good luck!

Thanks for the help!

After doing some research on the web, I came up with this recipe...

Let me know what you think!

6 Lbs Bavarian Wheat DME
1 Lbs CaraVienne Steep 20min @ 150

60 min 0.5 Amarillo
30 min 0.5 Amarillo
15 min 0.5 Amarillo
5 min 0.5 Amarillo
1 min 0.5 Amarillo
Dry 0.5 5 Days

5.7% ABV
OG 1.058
FG 1.015

31.2 IBU's

Looks good to me, can't go wrong with Amarillo IMO. I'm kind of a fan of Caravienne too, I use that in my Belgian pales.
Sorry no one else is chiming in but I say brew it!

Slightly off topic, but if you are feeling adventurous, DME can be mixed in to a basic ice cream base and makes a lovely cinder toffee tasting ice cream.
