Got a giftcard to my lhbs and trying to think what my new toy should be $75 giftcard. I already have 4 kegs,2 regulators, perlick faucets, kezzer with digital controller, stir plate. Thinking my next toy should be a refractometer. Any toys I'm over looking?

Refractometer is a great choice. If you don't have one already, putting it towards a grain mill would be a great choice. You can buy grains in bulk, saving money, and then you've got it on hand to brew whenever the mood strikes!

Live in apartment no room for grain storage. And lhbs is only 2 miles away. Leaning towards the refractometer, just wanted to see what other things might be out there.

Ah, fair enough! I love my refractometer, so I'd go that route myself. Enjoy :mug:

What is your current brew setup? It could be 75$ is better spent on the equipment than on the gadgets. Possibly a membership to local home brew club (if they have dues), or a subscription to a brewing magazine. Brewing in an apartment sounds like you may not need more tools, but possibly more resources? Just hazarding a guess.

Heat:eek:utdoors propane burner
Kettles:6.5 gallon kettle and 4 gallon kettle ( I have a 15.5 gallon keg I'll be converting soon but already have the stuff for that)
Mash tun: Igloo cooler false bottom stainless valve
Chiller: 50' double coil wort chiller

already a member of chaos brew club

I luckily have a unique set up for an apartment, oversized back laundry room with its own bathroom that i converted to my brewroom. have a outside patio behind that

What is your least favorite brewing task and what would make it better?

One would be trying to get a sample cooled to check efficiency, the other is clean up. Sounds like a fast ferm would help with that since no extra bucket to clean when racking to 2ndary. But the fast ferm would not work with my temp controlled ferm chamber

Second the suggestion for a pH meter. And a copy of Palmer's Water book. Those two thing have completely revolutionized my brewing.

There are threads on HBT that have recommendations for really good pH meters.

I suppose this suggestion only works if the LHBS carries good pH meters.
