What to brew?

Hey everyone! I am new to home brewing and need some help deciding what to brew. I like beer styles like tripels and Highland Gaelic Ale. My wife on the other hand likes amber beer and very hoppy beer. If there is something close to being in the middle of those that you guys like to brew and would like to share that would be great! Highland's Gaelic Ale is an American Amber-style. That's a good style for new brewers.
