Sounds like saison and biere de garde would be right up your alley. If you can get Great Divide breweries' beers where you live, try out "Colette" - that is a really tasty one. Saisons can vary a lot, but for the most part they are malty up front but with a crisp, somewhat fruity/tart finish. Kind of the best of both worlds IMO. A lot of people like to use spices or orange peel in them, but I prefer without spices. Most saisons have a decent amount of hops, but more aroma hops and less bittering. Like you, I lean towards more malty, less bitter beers and saison has become my style of choice during the warmer months(don't tell anyone else, because I'll become an outcast, but I secretly hate IPA). I mean, don't get me wrong - I do like hops. But I prefer a beer to be BALANCED, not just a hoppy punch in the face. It's really easy to make a beer super hoppy - making one that has good hop character but is still well balanced is more of a challenge.
