So I've had a Double NEIPA on tap for the last 8 months. I know....that's not part of the question 😂.

The beer has a slight haze and tastes like passion fruit (freeze dried passion fruit added) and has been the same all the way through the keg since I put it on tap. It hasn't moved a muscle.

Here are some photos from about 3 months ago

Then today (this evening) this came out.

Cloudy, super thick and tastes of pure mango juice!

I thought ahhh must have been the trub/mud/settled yeast getting in somehow.

After a bit of digging it seems that was to be the case. The weight of the beer usually keeps the sediment in place after an initial channel is made during the first couple of pints via the dip tube the beer is good. Then once the beer level lowers in the keg the "mud" can be kicked up!

Alas we've explained it.....well no I've just poured this 10 mins later.

Any explanations?

that sounds interesting how did you add the passionfruit
Freeze dried passion fruit in a hop spider in the whirlpool/hopsgand
Looks like you got a schlug of trub at the bottom of the corny... And took it out. All better now? It's gonna kick soon. Maybe.
Wouldn't it be odd for the keg not to move but the turbulence at the end of the keg to kick it up enough to clear it all for a 1/2 pint then return to normal? Anyway I agree it think it's at the end of the keg and that's why I thought it was the trub.

Doesn't seem that odd to me. My guess is that the beer level dropped near or below the top of the "sludge" pile in the bottom of the keg, the sludge then collapsed (landslide!) into the well around the dip tube, then pouring a half pint picked up the sludge around the dip tube, forming a new well, and finally the next pour picked up clear beer from the newly reformed well. May happen again until the keg fully kicks.

Brew on :mug:

Beer CSI ...

did the passion fruit flavor come through ?
Have to say I think it works better the hops for specific aroma and flavour lasted 8 months and it's still going strong.

I should probably specify it's the powdered form rather than slices or pieces. Seems to work better.
