I had someone give me some Dos Equis and Sol bottles. Since the bottles are green and clear, I don't really plan on using them except for some kind of emergency when I miscount the number of available bottles I have. But it would be good to know for future reference what size caps they take. Thanks.

They take standard caps. Be careful about Negra Modelo bottles. While they take a standard cap, the bottle is not standard long neck so you can't cap them with a capper.

I have bottled numerous beers in negra modelo bottles with no problem. In fact, I have had an apple cider bottled in these bottles for over a year.

I suppose they will work with a bench capper. Most everyone has a handheld capper and they won't work.

Thanks for the info everyone.

As a side not, it is harder than hell to get labels off Dos Equis bottles.

If you look closely at the mexican bottles, the lip which the handheld capper holds on to when capping is smaller and a shorter distance from the tip of the bottle than "regular" american bottles. This makes it so the capping is a bit more difficult (you might have a few "do overs") but its not impossible.

modello bottles work fine even without a bench capper, its the bohemia bottles that dont have any lip around the neck for the capper to grap onto, had an incodent where i had saved a six pack of those and when bottling day came round i was running round searching for bottles cuz i was shoet cuz those bohemias wont work
