Make sure your yeast bank includes some WLP833 German Bock yeast, my favorite!I ran into chloramine issues so never got to test that beer. Been using campden ever since though. There’s way too many beers in the pipeline to test out the clone recipe right now. Will have to be after summer since there’s some brew days coming up for a wedding I’m hosting soon. Also putting in a yeast order with morebeer soon to go ahead and get more strains banked up this year if they make it.
The Ayinger strain is definitely on the to do list!Make sure your yeast bank includes some WLP833 German Bock yeast, my favorite!
I haven't seen "nooner" in years! Do you get it at ome the breweries?Sierra Nevada Nooner Pils...what yeast is used in this beer? It has been temporarily discontinued, which is a shame. The Nooner was exactly like the beers I would have on draft while in Germany. Very, very good.
Yeah i agree- it was good. Summerfest was always good, too...No, not available anywhere. Have not had it in a long time. It was my favorite SN beer.
I've had some really good one off beers at their taproom. Too bad they don't put most into regular productionYeah i agree- it was good. Summerfest was always good, too...
I live in Northern Cali so we see a lot of "trial" and special releaae beers. (We're 1.5 hour from the Chico brewery).
Keep us updated in your results, please!
Yeah... Berkely has a really cool taproom too- lots of experimential stuff. Small batch, etc. I've only been once, but they had a lot of unique stuff.I've had some really good one off beers at their taproom. Too bad they don't put most into regular production
What is it that you like about this yeast vs the standbys (W34/70, etc.)? I used it once maybe three years ago and I don't remember much about it.Make sure your yeast bank includes some WLP833 German Bock yeast, my favorite!
It was sold out in minutes!! Lol
Looks like it’s coming back into regular distribution this year! Woohoo!
Was it "nooner"?Sierra Nevada previously had a lager, almost an exact German Pils clone, that was far better than Summerfest.
No longer avaiable.
If the trend toward lagers keeps going I wouldn't be surprised if it too came back around at some point. Was it "nooner"?
That was a decent pils... and it was one of the firat to come in cans, too.
I miss it.
Yes! That's it! It tasted exactly like the beer I was drinking in Germany. Good stuff. Was it "nooner"?

I was able to order some cans of their Pale Bock last year, which I believe was pretty similar to Glissade, and it was quite a wonderful beer.I’ve always enjoyed their lagers so I’m glad to see summerfest is back this year. Nooner was a goodie too…but the one I miss most of all is Glissade!
I snagged a few 4 packs a few years back of the bock... it was too malty for me. Also very boozy. But i can see the appeal- it was a good beer but not for me.I was able to order some cans of their Pale Bock last year, which I believe was pretty similar to Glissade, and it was quite a wonderful beer.
Glissade?!? Expand, please! Thanks!I’ve always enjoyed their lagers so I’m glad to see summerfest is back this year. Nooner was a goodie too…but the one I miss most of all is Glissade!
Thanks!Glissade was a maibock they used to brew a long time ago. I remember it being balanced and delicious and like liquid gold in color
I think they tried it about 5 to 10 years before the market was ready for it.Sierra Nevada needs to learn that there are good beers besides ales.
