What have you done to challenge your brewing?

Lately for me, it's been brewing two different beers back to back. It's mostly selfish as the busy summer, combined with parties where people drank all my beer really killed my pipeline. So in building it back up, I went to brewing 2 back to back.

The recipes haven't been very daring though, just trying to get a few of my favorites built back up to a good supply.

Sounds like me. My summer pipeline is dwindling pretty serious. So I need to take a 1st FG sample on my Dampfbier v2 & just ordered another ESB, E/SG kit from morebeer. Great beer with good malt/hop balance for 30 bucks!

Hah, I would think that brewing beer back to back, doing simpler faster more efficient recipes and brewing the same recipes with repeatable results are all fairly challenging!

You got that right! I'll see just how good I am at repeatability when the kit comes in. Simple & a hair quicker, but I want to get that great balance & color again.
