what do people use for labels?

SWMBO wants labels on the beer for when company comes over.

So what do you guys print labels on? Im hoping it's not the regular labels sold at staples, those things, i'd imagine be a pain to clean off or does oxy clean work on those too?

So what's the recommended way?? I have a half way decent ink jet printer, just need to know what kind of paper/label/glue to use for easy cleaning.

Midwest supplies sells beer labels, have a few different shapes too, though i'm not sure if there's any difference between those and the staples ones other than the shape.

Personally I use a 3/4" round label and stick it on the caps. I hate removing labels.

Print them on plain paper using a laserjet printer. If you do not have a laserjet, go to kinkos and they can make color copies for not too much. Stick the labels on using milk as an adhesive. It will stick very well and then come off easily with a quick scrub while running it under water.

+1 This works great. I like it better than gluestick since the whole label is stuck to the bottle and the edges aren't peeling up--it just looks more professional. And label paper is expensive and much harder to remove.

My gluestick labels are fully stuck to the bottle. no loose edges. ya need to figure out your problem

Avery 6464 3 1/3" x 4" removable labels. Perfect size and they peel right off for easy cleanup.

A hint, doing the milk is easiest if you use a label sized sponge soaked in milk. Just press the label on to the sponge, then put the label on the bottle!

It will stick until you are ready to remove it. Condensation doesn't have much effect. Now if you were to stick it in an ice bucket then it would probably come off though.

Milk only happily sticks to glass. try to apply a milk label to a plastic bottle and it'll come free the moment you touch it after it dries.

Even in a bucket of ice, the labels stayed on for me, but they were in there for a max of 2 hours (and then all 50 were gone!), so I couldn't say for longer than that.

Haven't yet. But was pondering a laser cut stencil slip rolled to the bottle curve and a little sandblasting.

Laser, NOT inkjet.

I use a paintbrush as follows: paint bottle with milk, apply paper label, paint on top of paper to get a nicely saturated label, let dry.

They seem to stay nicely adhered indefinitely this way.
