Gone for a week & the whole site has changed. Some of these pics are regular size & some are thumbnails; this conversion is going to take some getting used to.

Pics from sites like imgur should be full sized. Pics uploaded directly to the forum can end up either way

You can choose full size when you up load directly or in this case i chose thumbnail. The actual pic i uploaded is 1600x1200 but the forum software scaled in down to 991x743.

Here is the same pic uploaded but choosing full sized. It is still scaled back until you click on it. Then it will show up in the full 1600x1200. This is one of the few things i really like about Xenforo.

There are many things i do not like about Xenforo but it has far better support for large images than most forums allow. Be thankful they have not implemented the image proxy yet if you can still view photobucket images with the "link fix" addon. The most common fix does not work with the image proxy service and you will need to remove that addon and install another.

A Simple But Tasty Breakfast...

Two egg omelette with mozzarella and hot giardinera.

A side of bacon and some mandarin orange slices.

The appropriate beer pairing would be a pale ale with a little smoked Maris Otter Malt, then hopped with summit. Too bad I don't have one. Might need to be a spring beer.

Happy Thanksgiving! G. Delarentis turkey. Same as last 5 years now. Inside stuffed with oranges, lemons, onion, and fresh sprigs of oregano, sage, and rosemary. Outside and underskin rubbed with herbs de provence mixed into evoo and butter. Wrapped and let sit overnight. Turkey neck, more fresh sprigs, and stock under bird while roasted for gravy. Mashed potatoes from pressure cooker with heavy cream. Mom made brussels sprouts and bacon and a nice crock pot stuffing. The classic french onion green bean casserole. A classsic candied yam recipe and cranberry relish. It was great, cant wait for left overs.

First time in maybe five (six? More?) years where I wasn’t the cook. I had to watch football and play with some awesome kids and doggos and then I was asked to carve the turkey. I love being the cook, but this was okay once in a while.

I didn't cook for thanksgiving either, went fishing, then out for dinner. Today however, the fish was cooked and I'm making broth for a Boulliabase later this week. Served the blackfish with saffron rice and cauliflower.

I have no photos to show as evidence, but I did deep-fry two birds on Thanksgiving Day that were absolutely delicious! I was fearful because the injectable marinade I used was homemade, rather than store-bought. Well, after those two birds, it has become my marinade of choice! After all, you can't go too far wrong with a pound of butter and a whole bottle of our favorite stuff...BEER! After preparing Thanksgiving turkeys for almost 50 years, the ones I fried on Thursday were the most delicious, most tender, juiciest...just doggone good! My son-in-law's dad couldn't stop nibbling on the sliced turkey...and this was his first experience with deep-fried birds.
