Following the inspiration I received yesterday at the Festival of Little Hills (St. Charles, MO), I shall attempt to make some kettle corn from scratch. It seems like a good way to kill some time while mashing.

I got to play with all my Weber toys this weekend. I smoked a couple racks of baby backs on the WSM and fired up the kettle to grill some killer sweet corn.

My wife made homemade refried beans yesterday so this morning I made Enfrijoladas. Best use of leftovers ever

Just tried making a slightly modified version of this roasted hummas recipe. Both the garbanzo beans and seseme seeds (for the tahini) were roasted on my grill with a smoker box full of hickory.

Things I modified: used a whole head of garlic, I used chili powder instead of cumin because I didn't realize I was out, and I used two small lemons because I didn't have a large one.

The flavor wasn't as strong as I hoped. I'm going to let it sit in the fridge all day and see if the flavors come together before I decide if I want to up the garlic and spices.

Indian tonight.

First I made spicy potato patties with peas, onions, and a variety of spices (I'm a homebrewer, of course I didn't write it down :ban:) with a garlic chutney.

Then a veggie curry dish with roasted eggplant, sweet poatoes, and butternut squash with sauteed green beans, onions, carrots, garlic, and cauliflower finished with some coconut milk.

Lastly some chicken tikka masala (not sure how authentic it turned out, but it was super tasty) served over some coconut jasmine rice.

Also pictured some na'an made with all homemade yogurt (the only water in it was to get the yeast moving). Flavor wise it was great, texture turned out OK. I don't think I had my oven anywhere near as hot as a tandoori.

Made three racks of St. Louis ribs with homemade sauce. Saved the bones to make pork stock. Made French Onion Soup with the stock, using thyme and bay leaf from the garden. All while sipping on homebrewed beer.

You can't buy that kind of satisfaction at the store.

Since when can you grow bay laurel trees in Virginia? Or do you bring it inside during the winter?

He's just a little guy in a pot right now—I'm quite new to gardening. We're still a ways out from frost here, but I will be bringing the pot indoors when it gets colder.

Just mixed up a vanilla ice cream custard for my daughter. We will churn it tomorrow.

This is always a blast, but I'm always too impatient to let it get to the consistency where it's best. I love icecream too much for my own good.

Wife found some sriracha soba noodles at the farmer's market (which actually tasted a bit like sriracha), so I whipped up a quick stir fry. Shrimp was tossed in soy sauace, sriracha, lime juice, and honey. Veggies were red peppers, snap peas, green onion, ginger, and garlic. Boiled the soy sauce mixture for a second, tossed in the noodles and served.
Definitely would make again. Quick easy and tasty.

Now I'm hungry!
