What color are spider mites?

I have a sterling in a pot that recently had its tip damaged and when i chevked on it today - I see small white spots on the lower leaves with tiny black dots on the underside. Not all that many but they are still there whatever they are. There are also a few fruit flies that just wont leave the pot alone. Anybody think it might be spider mites? Both these pots are indoors under a small growlight. Theyve only been outside like twice.

Try Google Image search, it will work better than describing them as "a light tan body with two darker oval patches on it's rear, approx 2-3 mm long"

Maybe it's just me, but if I even suspected that I had spider mites on my plants this year I'd mix up some dish soap and water and spray the heck out of them. Of course that's probably because last year they completely destroyed my plants because I let the population build up too much before I noticed them. I then spent the rest of the summer trying to fight the infestation that just kept coming back, lost all of the crop that I had growing, and they even killed the plants so they didn't come back this year and I had to buy new ones.

If you really have spider mites, there should be some kind of webbing on the underside of some of the leaves. If not it's probably not spider mites but could be some other kind of pest.
